The Philadelphia Soul failed to clinch an Arena Football League playoff spot following last week’s 54-47 loss to Kansas City. It marked their first home defeat of the season. Their bye week couldn’t have come at a better time as the team has dropped three of their last four contests.
As the players watch games from the friendly confines of home this week, the team could qualify for the post season without throwing a pass or scoring a touchdown. If New York, Cleveland or Orlando lose in their respective games this week, the Soul are in. Should Tampa Bay and New Orleans both come out on the losing end, it would seal Philadelphia’s playoff fate.
The best way to get back on the winning track will be defeating division rival Dallas in a June 7 road contest. Philadelphia is currently 10-3, while Dallas is 10-2. The Soul took the first meeting of the season 57-28. Both squads were undefeated at the time.
The home team, now in their fifth season, is looking to make the playoffs for a third straight year.
