The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they will be holding their annual Trial on the Isle training competition on July 23 through the streets and waters of Stone Harbor and Avalon, New Jersey.
The all day event begins at 9 a.m. when the players, who are in town as part of the team’s Prospect Camp, will demonstrate their conditioning by participating in a triathlon, which includes cycling, kayaking and running. All fans will have the opportunity to purchase exclusive Flyers merchandise with proceeds from the sales going to the Comcast-Spectacor Foundation.
The competition begins and ends at the fire station at the intersection of 96th Street and Second Avenue in Stone Harbor. Players will begin the Trial on the Isle route by biking from 96th Street and finishing on 80th Street where they will begin the five-mile kayak in the bay to 57th Street. The last leg of the race will see the prospects run on the beach from 57th Street to the 96th Street finish line.
Following the competition, players will be available for autographs from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Windrift Resort Hotel (79th Street and the Beach in Avalon) and will later participate in a charity softball game at 4 p.m. against local celebrities from the 80th Street Field.
Immediately following the softball game, the day of competition will end with an after party at the Windrift.
